Rain

It's raining today. I did this post weeks ago on a "sunny day" but have been waiting for it to rain...I know ...why would I do that?

There is just something about a quiet rainy day that I just love.

George too!

I find myself thinking of the movie "Great Expectations" many times when it rains.

Please view one of my favorite romantic rain scenes below!!!

Do you think the scene would be as powerful on a

Sunny day???

oh man.......the lighting and tense romantic ideas between Keira Knightly and her man in Pride and Prej......in the very early morning is stunning.......and in that same movie in the concrete domed gazebo while in the rain....

but to honestly tell you - I like the old P&P better......

Hi Carole,
Rain sounds nice. I love a good romantic comedy, like You've Got Mail or Sleepless in Seattle.
Have a nice weekend,
Rosemary

Your beautiful photos of rain can make me change my mind about it! I prefer a sunny day!
I like old b&w romantic movies...women in elegant dresses and gloves and charming gentlemen!
An extinct race!
Have a nice week end!

Carole, love these rain pic's. I'm glad the rain is finally moving on here in Virginia. I even saw the sun today, for about 5 minutes. But I to love the rain, most times.
Thanks for your comments, my husband served 20 years in the Navy. I know what they and their families go through first hand. Were a proud & grateful retired military family.

I love the rain, Carole and being out in it....but, best of all, I love being indoors, in the warm ,when the rain is pouring outside and lashing against the window.
Fabulous photographs as well. I love the part in Bridget Jones Diary, when she keeps going to get changed and comes out in the rain, and the taxi goes through a puddle and splashes her !!.... not romantic but funny !!

Hi Carole
Sneaking away from my mountain of work to take a visit!!

Love this post.. and I am a rain lover too!! I find the best thing about rain is it gives me a perfectly good excuse to do nothing!! and go back to sleep listening to the tap tap tapping on the roof.

When I was in Florence it had been 40 degrees celcius and dusty for 2 weeks and finally the rain came down as on was on Ponte de Vechio... everyone ran for cover and 1 silly Aussie [me] ran out in the middle of the bridge and enjoyed every clean fresh wet moment of it.. They all thought I was mad! haha... I'm sure you would've enjoyed it too..

Take care... back to work for me.. boo hoo.. xx Julie

Well that film clip certainly took my mind of things! Rain is refreshing in small amounts....days of rainy weather bring me down and I need the sun! Great post! Take care, Laura

Oh no definitely not!!!
Because I live where there is usually is not a lot of rain, I too love the rainy days. My parents lived in Oregon and when I would visit, it never stopped. Now that would be a tough one for me, I do love the sunshine.
Hugs,
June

I've always loved the rain, but a sunny day is nice too ~ especially in November! You're right, the movie scene would not be the same without the rain!
I kissed in the rain once (many years ago) and felt like I was in my own movie. Hahahaaaa!
Have a sweet day!

i love the rain.
i used to live in nyc, it was so fabulous when we had a long rain,
it was as if my world had gone through a car wash - a city-wash.
everything smelled lovely, the streets and sidewalks were clean.
but i loved to go to the movies in the middle of the day alone, when it was a rainy day.
....i would put on my rubber boots, my great rain jacket with it's hood and stomp through puddles and whatever else came my way on my way to the movie.
great fun.

i think only children are good at entertaining themselves. i am one.

Hi Carole,

I think rainy days can be great. I used to love walking our dog in the rain and then coming back indoors and feeling refreshed. Also love lying in bed at night listening to the rain on the roof.
Fabulous photographs.

Have a happy weekend
